About Japan Desk Intelligence

Japan Desk Intelligence is an English-language publication that explains Japan's policies, industries and supply capabilities for international businesses — buyers, importers, manufacturers, procurement teams and business-development professionals.

It is not a translation of Japanese news. For each development we ask what happened, why it matters, and what it could mean for businesses outside Japan, and we link to the primary sources so you can check them yourself.

Who publishes it

Japan Desk Intelligence is published by Onmitsu Inc. (株式会社隠密), a company registered in Tokyo in 2006, as part of its Japan Desk service for overseas businesses. Japan Desk takes fixed-scope requests such as verifying a Japanese company, finding potential partners, and contacting companies in Japanese on a client's behalf.

What we cover

How articles are made

Each article goes through three separate steps: research from primary sources, drafting in English, and an independent fact-check that re-opens the sources and compares every key statement with them. AI tools assist with research and drafting; an article is only published if the check passes. Details are in our Editorial Policy.

Business model

We do not charge Japanese companies for coverage and we do not run advertising. The publication is funded by Japan Desk's paid research and contact services.
